Ahh, the feeling of getting film scans back is the absolute greatest!! This summer I purchased a little vintage 35mm camera on ebay for just $100!! I honestly didn’t know what to expect but it was cheap so why not?! Our anniversary trip to The Clifton Inn was the first time that I tested this baby out and I made a commitment to myself that I would primarily shoot on my little camera! Film is great for staying in the moment, there is no temptation to immediately look at the back of the camera and critique things! You simply snap a photo and then move on! Plus the anticipation of waiting for those beauties to land in your inbox is such a fun feeling! If you are looking for an affordable way to get into film I highly recommend the Canon AE1
Anyways, enough camera talk! Bryson & I initially had a trip to FL planned this summer but due to Covid we decided it might be wiser to stay local! I had been eyeing the Clifton Inn on instagram for quite some time and I thought it would make the perfect spot for a romantic getaway! So we packed our bags and headed to Charlottesville for the week which is only about a 2 hour drive for us! The Clifton was amazing, we loved our beautiful suite, the gorgeous property and the fact that we basically had the pool to ourselves the whole weeks! We also planned a day of sight seeing including Monticello, and some beautiful wineries. Pippin Hill was our favorite! We just beat a storm and had just enough time to wander the beautiful property with a glass of wine! We also had a day of hiking Old Rag Mountain. This was a challenging 10 mile hike with lots of rock scrambles. I highly recommend it if you aren’t afraid of heights and don’t mind a challenge!
This was truly such a special and memorable trip. I believe that each stage of marriage is worth celebrating and this was the perfect way for us to celebrate our marriage and life together!
